What happens after I approve a recommendation?

Mentat writes a draft quote into your Jobber for that customer. The technician's field context goes into the quote's notes feed. It is a draft, so Jobber does not send it to the customer; that is still your call, from Jobber, when you are ready. Afterward Mentat reads the quote's status back from Jobber, so you can see from Mentat whether it was approved, converted, or archived there.

What you see at approve

After you confirm, one message shows on screen. Either the quote was created, or it needs attention because it did not land cleanly in Jobber. It shows once and then it is gone, so read it before you move to the next one. If it said needs attention, skip to the bottom of this article.

The draft quote

Open Jobber and find the customer. The quote is there as a draft, with the recommendation as its line or lines. If you entered a price at approve, or one came from your Jobber products and services list, the line carries it. A line you approved without a price arrives flagged for the office to price before the quote goes anywhere.

The quote is yours from here. Edit it, reprice it, delete it. Mentat wrote the draft; Jobber owns it now.

The notes feed

What the technician saw is in the quote's notes feed in Jobber. That is the field context: their description of the equipment, the condition, what the customer said. It is there so whoever picks up the quote in the office has the story without calling the tech.

It also means the customer-facing quote stays clean. The notes are internal. The line items are what the customer sees, once you send.

It is not sent

Nothing goes to the customer at approve. The draft sits in Jobber until someone sends it from there, the same way any quote in your shop does. If a quote you approved a while ago has not moved, it is likely still a draft nobody sent. A quote has been sitting. How do I follow up?

Status comes back

Once the quote exists in Jobber, Mentat reads its status back. Whether it was approved by the customer, converted to a job, or archived, you can see that from Mentat's side without opening Jobber. That is how the weekly digest knows what landed and what is still open.

The technician's side

The technician gets an email saying the memo became a quote, naming the job and the customer, with their name on it. They do not see the price, in the email or anywhere in Mentat. If you want to know what they are told, the technician article is short. What happens to my memo after I send it?

If it didn't work

You saw needs attention at approve, or there is no draft in Jobber. The write did not land cleanly. Check the account page shows Jobber connected, reconnect if it is not, and reply to any email from Mentat naming the customer so it can be looked at. How do I connect Jobber to Mentat?

The quote is there but has no price. You approved without one and nothing matched your price list. Price it in Jobber. A tech flagged something. What do I charge for it?

The quote is on the wrong customer. Delete it in Jobber and reply to any email from Mentat with the job name.

The status in Mentat is behind Jobber. Mentat reads status back after the fact, not instantly. Give it time and check again.
